The first Childrens Chess Tournament for 2017/18

(B&D League 2017/18 Week 5) The Malone Road side's perfect start to the season was brought to a juddering halt at Fruithill as they were finally beaten. Also, in Division 1 there was a default that could have significant implications for the title race.
Chess for Peace
On Wednesday 15th November two of our promising young players, Dexter Harris and Adam Fitzsimons, traveled across to Wales as Youth Ambassadors for the Ulster Chess Union, as part of the Chess for Peace initiative by FIDE. They were accompanied by Ross Harris and Brian Fitzsimons.

Sadly Alex Beckett has passed away.
An inspirational leader in our local chess scene, Alex Beckett, has died at the age of 86. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. The amount of time and energy he poured into the development of chess in Belfast will forever make him a legend within Ulster Chess. Alex Beckett’s funeral will be held at Knockbreda Church of Ireland Parish Church, Church Road, Belfast BT8 7AN at 11am this Friday 26th January.
