Ray Devenney's presentation on 20 September 2017
Ray Devenney is leaving Northern Ireland and moving to Newcastle Upon Tyne in the near future. A former Ulster Champion in 1972 and Joint Irish Champion in 1977, as well as a former President of the Ulster Chess Union, Ray Devenney has played for a number of Ulster chess clubs over the years , including Newtownards, Fisherwick and most recently Belfast South.
In recognition of Ray's outstanding contribution to Ulster Chess , Belfast South Chess Club organised a presentation for him at The Bankers Club. The presentation took place on the penultimate evening of the Eglantine Summer Tournament in which has Ray has been a participant.
Ray is hoping to continue his love of chess by joining one of the clubs in Newcastle and we wish him and his family the very best for the future.
