The Summer tournament award ceremony took place on 27th September

Always a brilliant evening the Summer Tournament award ceremony and a thrilling quick play with a difference....

On the last wednesday of september chess players gather - in this case 20 players - of all strenghts. They play a tournament with a difference - a difference in times calculated from the difference on the players ratings - One player could end up with 2mins against their opponents 18mins - all the games times added up to 20mins. A great way of equalising the playing field - would their be upsets? Games where a winning position is lost because of no time to complete - or in time trouble.... All part of this beautiful game.

10 Bobby Thompson 1623 [1] 1:0 David Seaby 1338 [1]

An exciting finish - the leaders Stephen and Robert play for the championship - but an interesting result - a draw and Ian Woodfield catches them with a win Nicholas Pilkiewicz. So 3 players on 5 points - we would have to go to tie breaks to see who wins. Stephen Rush wins the tournament. Some sharp games some beautiful positions and some rushed/quick moves..... special mention of Andy Boal who did brilliantly to come joint 4th.
