On the 9th - 10th July 2016 eight of our top junior chess players travelled to Manchester to compete in the Delancey UK Schools GigaFinals.

The last week of the Summer tournament is this week. Wednesday 21st Sept. What are the standings. Whos going to win...... Remember the last week 28th Sept will be prize giving and a quick play handicap times on the clock depending on the difference of the two players ratings - always fun.

The Belfast Qualifier for the London Junior Chess Championship
The new school year starts and we have our first monthly tournament. The London Junior Chess Championship (LJCC). An opportunity for the younger players to qualify for the LJCC finals - one of the most prestigious tournaments.

(B&D League 2016/17 Week 2) Ballynafeigh 1 have opened up a clear lead in Divison 1 after routing The A Team, while early indications are that an exciting chase for the Strawbridge Cup is developing.
Ballynafeigh 2 upset The A Team
(B&D League 2016/17 Week 3) Ballynafeigh 2 move up to second place in Division 1 with a surprise win over The A Team, while Division 2 remains as tight as ever.
This years Childrens Chess Grandprix kicks off in November
On Saturday November 5th the new seasons Childrens Chess series of tournaments started. Some 26 youngsters played chess and solved problems. In a friendly atmosphere some brilliant battles were fought.

(B&D League 2016/17 Week 5) Ballynafeigh 3 are emerging as the clear leaders in Division 2 after dominating a strong Kelly's Heroes team. Meanwhile in Division 1, it remains tight at the top as QUB 1 and Ballynafeigh 1 shared the points.
Universal Childrens Day and Chess Problem Solving.
In support of the Chess and Heritage Event run alongside of " Celebration of 800 years of Mayorality and Freeman of Newcastle of Tyne" on the Universal Children Day. Malola Prasath invited the Ulster Chess Union, to make it into a grand "Northeast Celebration". Ulster Chess Union ran a fun problem solving event at Caffe Nero, Lombard St. A small group of Problem solvers met and enthusiastically solved problems.
