M.C.B Chess 2004/2005
Over the past two years the Methodist College chess club has enjoyed remarkable success in both team and individual competitions. The highlight was perhaps the team’s winning of the All Ireland College’s Under 19 Championship in Dublin in 2004.

- The All Ireland Colleges Tournament
- In 2004 it was Dublin’s turn to host Ireland’s most important school’s chess competition, and the private school Gonzaga College was chosen as the venue for the tournament in which Methody was to be represented in the under nineteen section.
- Ulster Schools League 2004
- The season began with a traditionally difficult trip up to St. Columb’s of Londonderry.
- Tournament Successes
- Throughout the season, players notched up regular tournament successes
- The Civil Service Summer Tournament
- This senior competition takes the format of a flexible tournament between April and September.
- Bangor 23rd Chess Congress
- The Bangor Chess Congress is the opening tournament to the senior season and takes the form of a six round rapidplay.
- The Ulster Schools Individuals Tournament
- This year Ulster’s most prestigious schools individual tournament took place in R.B.A.I and featured an unprecedented number of first place successes for Methody players.
- The Lumen Christi College Secondary Schools Tournament
- The inaugural Lumen Christi College Secondary Schools Tournament was held in Londonderry in early April of 2005.
- MCB Halloween Tournament 2005
- This annual Tournament is held annually in Methody and coincides with the first stage of the UK Chess International, an event organised by Michael Basman.
