There will be engraved trophies for Champion, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Junior Champion.
Venue co-ordinator: Carson McNab, who will arrange free tea and coffee for attendees (and parents of children).
Chief Arbiter: FIDE National Arbiter Adam Rushe
FIDE rules will apply. Remember to turn off your phones before entering the hall. Also, remember no food in the playing hall.
Ample free parking spaces are available at the side of the hall, enter the church car park via East Street. Beware of the one-way system on all the streets surrounding the venue so allow enough time to arrive and get parked. You should aim to check-in with Adam at 6:45pm to be included in Round 1 pairings. Everyone must be seated by 6:55pm for tournament announcements (key tournament rules). Round 1 will start promptly at 7pm otherwise we can’t fit 10 rounds in before the venue closes.
Please note, this is a Bangor Chess Club satellite project at a small church hall with space for 20 players and with 70 members at Bangor Chess Club this season (with quite a number who live in Newtownards), we have already reached max capacity at our Ards venue but we are operating a waiting list as a few players often drop-out last minute so entries onto the waiting list are still very welcome, but please don’t send any entry fees through until we reply if a space has become available.
