Fruithill Win 2020 Team Rapidplay
Fruithill awarded the postponed 2020 Team Rapidplay Championship
In March 2020 the Ulster Team Rapidplay Championship was halted, after 6 out of 10 rounds, due to the country going into lockdown. The plan was to recommence the tournament once restrictions were lifted, however, the ongoing situation with Covid-19 made this impossible to do. The league table was as below.
It was decided that Fruithill Chess Club would be awarded the title as -
1) over half the league games had been played
2) they had beaten their nearest rivals, Strand Chess Club, in both home and away matches
