Grandad Richard Proctor (FIDE rapid rating: 1482) v Grandson Caleb McClean (FIDE blitz rating: 1414)
Richard will take on 8 players rated 1000-1200, Caleb will play 8 players rated 0-1000.
Medals for top 3 players in each simul. Register early for a place. Friendly boards on far side of hall
Thursday 8 December 2022 7:00pm to 9:30pm
Education Night: Caro-Kann Rapid - all games will begin with 1. e4 c6, 2. d4 d5
On the demo board, a basic opening introduction to the Caro-Kann Defence from 7pm to 7:30pm. The talk will be accompanied by an A4 hand-out covering the variations.
This will be followed by a 5 round non-rated rapid from 7:30pm to 9:45pm. This event is part of our education programme to help widen our understanding of openings. We will select a different opening on each of our education nights throughout the season.
5 rounds. Time control 12+0. Take seats at 7:30pm for the tournament.
On same night: League fixture: Bangor B v Citi Knights – to be played on far side of hall at 7:45pm.
Home team to set-up and take down the tables, chairs, sets, boards, clocks and score-sheets.
Thursday 15 December 2022 Sam Lynn Memorial Classic week 3 7:30pm to 10:30pm
Free entry. Remember to register in advance if you want to play. Remember a pen! 3 sections. Perpetual shields will be awarded to the 3 champions. UCU rated.
Thursday 22 December 2022 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Bangor Bullet Championship 2022. Free entry. Certificates awarded to prize-winners. Remember to register in advance if you want to play. Arrive at club by 7:25pm at latest.
Time control is 2+1, therefore games will last between approximately 5 minutes.
10 rounds. Over-the-board bullet tournaments are not rated so we use a player’s blitz rating for seeding purposes.
