Ulster Rapidplay Championship 2009
For the fifth successive year the UCU's Championship Rapidplay was held over the Christmas holiday period at Belfast Boat Club.
Gareth Annesley and John Cairns shared the title, each finishing with 5 points from their 6 games. Cairns had beaten Annesley in Round 3 but had conceded draws in the next 2 rounds to Michael Waters and Mark Newman. This is the third time Annesley and Cairns have shared the title - in New Year 2006 it was along with Nicholas Pilkiewicz, while last year they were part of the 5-player group that came equal first.
